One Year

So much can happens in ONE year, but I honestly think time goes fastest during the first year of life. Physical & mental growth is tremendous during that first year, and afterwards we spend the rest of our years attempting
to grow just as fast. Despite this tremendous growth that we have all undergone, none of us remember a thing about it, yet it is so critical to our current well being.

As a mother of four, I find myself trying to slow time. My young children are racing about me, and I often catch myself wondering if I’m making the most
of their time. Do I hug and kiss them enough? Do I spend enough one-on-one time with each of my children? Am I as patient as I can be, or do I waste time spouting lectures that teach my children ‘not much,’ and only serve to waste time venting?

During this 1st year of Gabriel’s growth, I think I have grown a lot, too. I have honestly tried to hold my baby more, and take those brief moments where he’s cuddling with me and think, “This is my baby now – enjoy THIS moment – for it will never come again.” I believe that spending time loving Gabriel more has taught me to spend time loving Anastasia more; Sabrina more; Samantha more; and Paul more, too.

This first year of Gabriel’s life has been a gift to our whole family. We are happier. We spend more time together laughing & talking. We are all growing in a better way. Gabriel is a happy boy, he’s an angel for our family, and he’s a great reminder of what matters most.

One year ago, Gabriel came into our lives. It was a glorious birth, and the angels rejoiced along with our family. If the name ‘Gabriel’ means ‘Messenger of God,’ then I truly believe our Gabriel came to this earth with this family message: Isn’t it about Time?
