We're alive . . . BUT DANG COLD!!! I admit that I am whining the most about the cold, and funny enough I'm the only one in our family who actually grew up with real winters! But I tell you the chill is going right through me - I have been southernized!
People up here say "it's colder a little earlier this year, but don't worry . . . it only gets worse from here." I'M DYING!!! (p.s. Snow flurries on Saturday!!!)
We are working hard to get settled and grateful to finally be out of the "transition" phase that has been the source of so much stress the past few months.
Paul has jumped in with a big woodworking project (11'x7' Entertainment Center), which is really fun to plan and work on for both of us. I'll post pictures whenever I can find my camera charger in one of the 40 boxes in our storage room. :-D
The girls are adjusting well. Every once in a while they'll share something they miss, or they'll re-realize we're not going back, or they'll act surprised when I won't let them wear shorts, or it will occur to them that they can't see their Johansen-cousins because they are too far away now . . . They do love having their playroom in the basement, though - oh the fun of running all around the house! All-in-all we're happier to be settling in to our new life.
It will probably take me longer to get over North Carolina (if I ever do), but I feel so blessed, and I'm so grateful that Paul is such a hard worker and great man - it makes it so much easier to follow him wherever he goes.
Love you all, and miss you!
Alexis

Hey Lexi! Thanks for the update! Mom was telling me about the snow yesterday, and I can sympathize with your pain. The older I get the more I want to fly south for the winter!
On a different note, I'm a little stressed about all of your personal information displayed for everyone to see. There have been stories about crazies seeing cute little kidlets on a blog and figuring out where they live. You may want to take off that part and let people know through e-mail? I love you all and want you to be safe! I'm glad you're closer now...maybe we can even come see you at your place now! Loves!
You're certainly an inspiration to me and a great example of faith. I'm glad to hear that all is going well with the move and I trust all is well with your new son (on the way). I know it's tough but I look forward to your blog updates. Take care.
There are some place you live that you never get over. . .the Bay Area was that for me, but I'm sure you'll find loads to love in Iowa. I've heard there is more than cornfields, so I'll have to come visit one of these days. . .when you are all settled in.
Love you!
So glad your move was safe. By now you will have much put away. Can't wait for a chance to see your new home.
